 "Omega juicer is great" 2009-06-20
By mary bankes (Malvern, pa United States)
This is my first juicer and it is great. It is sturdy, powerful, and works as described. It's easy to use and wash. I struggled with the price but it's worth every penny. I highly recommend this juicer.

By J. Manos (Nashville, Tn)
I have had my Omega juicer for almost 6 months now. I juice everyday and have tried 2 other juicers before this one. I love it. It's easy to clean up and has a blank plate that we use for making 'ice cream' by running frozen fruit through it. Even the kids use it! Happy happy with it.

 "A Great Little Juicer!" 2009-02-04
By J. Maner (Texas)
This is my second juicer. My first was the centrifical type. The one is just soooo superior to the previous one. The unit has a solid, but not TOO heavy weight, and it does not take up a tremendous amount of counter space either. The parts are not that complicated after reading the manual and spending about 5 min. figuring it out. The parts are heavy-duty plastic -- not flimsy at all. The clean up is very fast as well, I think, compared to my old juicer.

You do have to cut some of the fruits and vegetables into chunks or slices to fit into the feeder; however, they feed very well, it only takes a few extra moments to cut them up, and the consistency is quite good, the pulp is very dry, and I only had to strain the juice with the supplied hand strainer for my daughter as I liked it just the way it comes out, myself. I made carrot bread one day with the pulp as well.

I puried a soft tomato that I normally would have had to throw out for tomato sauce in a recipe' with the blank insert that also comes with instead of the juicer insert, and I made a frozen banana blueberry desert that was very good! I found out that it will also chop up veggies for soups or salsa, and also has inserts that will extrude pasta. I'm excited to try that soon as well!

 "A Great Juicer" 2009-02-02
By W. Sklar (Henderson, Nevada USA)
Bought this as a replacement to my Juicman juicer (now ancient).

I've been very happy with the Omega. It stays out on my counter as a permanent fixture in the kitchen now as a constant reminder to use it each day. Here are some things to keep in mind when considering this vs. other juicers:

1) Masticating juicers are not meant for casual juicers. If you are going to juice only carrots on the weekend, this is not the juicer for you. You'll spend more and be satisfied with a <$100 centrifugal juicer.

2) Cleanup is a breeze. It's actually easier than my old Juiceman.

3) Be prepared to cut things down to size. The chute is small so even carrots sometimes need te be cut up.

Overall, juicing takes about 5x longer with a masticating juicer. The benefits are: better juice, more juice, a quiet machine and the ability to juice greens.

"Pros & Cons compared with Omega 9000" 2009-11-05
By MahJongg Rave
Pros:

1. Solidly-built. Looks like it will last forever. (So is the 9000)

2. A breeze to clean. (Much faster than the 9000)

3. Better than Omega 9000 in that you can continuously juice large quantities without stopping to clean.

Cons:

1. Really small chute

2. Carrots are LOTS faster in the 9000 and seem to have a similar yield. If you're used to the speed of a centrifugal juicer, the slow speed of this juicer might seem tiresome.

3. You really need to push down hard in the 8004, so if you have any disabilities or wrist problems, this is NOT the juicer for you.

4. My old Omega 9000 is different, but no worse.

-- I'm not sure that the yield is all that different.

-- The taste is no different.

-- I'm not sure that the old Omega "heats the juice and destroys the enzymes" as the juice in the 9000 still comes out plenty cold. Instead of spreading this "rumor," someone should really test it and see if centrifugal juicing really "destroys enzymes."

5. The first time I used this juicer a few weeks ago, I started with spinach, then tried using a carrot to push it in, like with the 9000. Bad idea! The whole feed chute jammed up, and because of the "L" shape, it took me an hour to slowly pick out the spinach and extract the carrot.

Summary: Although this juicer is significantly easier to clean than Omega 9000, it might not be better for everyone. Please note that I'm comparing it to the centrifugal juicer that keeps the pulp in the basket for continuous spinning. I would not recommend a "pulp ejector" juicer to anyone (Too loud and wasteful of produce.)

Well built machine. It does a very good job, not very large, very quite, very easy to use and easy to clean in seconds. Everything is working great as they said and the machine looks very reliably made. The only recommendation I have is to include a picture reference / instructions manual. I would recommend that juicer to everyone interested in low speed juicers.

 "Omega J8003 Juicer - AWESOME" 2009-11-27
By Wayne (Mishawaka Indiana)
Anyone owning a centrifugal juicer and wanting to change to a masticating juicer look no further. This is the one for you! If you are looking into juicing for the first time this juicer will be your best first pick. Don't bother even looking at the centrifugal juicers. The J8003 is the answer.

I couldn't wait to throw away my old juicer. The Omega is quiet. And the best part; clean up is simple and fast.

Tired of cleaning the big basket with BLADES on the old kind? No blades here, just a little 3/4 inch screen and Omega includes a nice brush to help clean it. It takes about 20 seconds to clean the screen. No more mess.

I primarily use mine for veggies. I juice every morning. It makes lots of juice and the pulp is extremely dry and just falls out the end slowly into the holding cup, not flying a hundred miles an hour like the centrifugal type! The juice pours down into its own cup and the included sieve accessory can be put on top of the cup for added filtration. I like that. The Omega uses an auger to chop the food, it almost sounds as if it's munching on the veggies. No more jet engine sounds like the old centrifugal!

The feed tube of the Omega is smaller than some, 1-1/2 inches, meaning you must cut big veggies to fit. (tomatoes, beets) This is NOT an issue for me.

The whole juicer end easily removes in one unit. Bring it right to the sink and rinse it off and disassemble. There is a total of 5 parts, the body, the auger, the screen/juicer assembly, the end cap and the holding tray that sits on top. All can be rinsed off under the faucet in just a few minutes.

Believe me, I juice beets and clean up is a breeze with this machine! With the old centrifugal machine my kitchen looked like a crime scene!

At first glance out of the box the Omega J003 feels strong. The motor compartment has a huge motor that moves the auger slowly, but with strength. Nothing heats up. It reminds me of the old days when everything was built like a tank. This one is.

Each and every plastic part that makes up the juicer end is built tough, you can feel it in the weight of each part, you can feel it in the way the parts fit together. No shortcuts here. It's quality all the way.

The Omega J8003 also comes with a separate unit that turns the juicer into a grinder, homogenizer, spaghetti maker, and a breadstick maker.

The Omega J8003 is worth every penny. 5 stars from me. I'd give it 6 if I could.

 "Great Machine" 2009-11-20
By T. Methans
I did a lot of research before settling on this juicer. I have experience with the centrifugal machines, so I knew the limitations of that style: frothy, slightly warmed juice, plus lots of noise. However, if you're looking for high speed, high volume, and general ingredient flexibility, I would look at the centrifugal Breville juicers instead of this masticating Omega. Also, if you want to juice all, or mostly, fruit this juicer is not for you.

Here's what's great about the J8003: low noise, juices leafy greens with ease, wrings the most possible juice out of the ingredients, easy to clean. While it takes a bit of effort to fit veggies down the tube, it's well worth any trouble. [I'm guessing that the size of the tube has to be in proportion to the size of the auger which is in proportion to motor's power]. After a few runs, you'll figure out how to cut produce just right - it really isn't that much extra work. The other step needed for a smooth juicing session is to alternate the ingredients - some people complained about the auger getting bogged down. Simply alternate dense veggies like carrots & beets with your leafy green, and then softer fruits. The three different textures help move pulp and juice though the machine very efficiently.

My only minor complaint is that the juice receptacle is on the smaller side (about 800ml or 27oz). If you're into serious juicing for the whole family or "juice feasting" , you'll probably find this isn't enough. Otherwise, awesome machine.

 "Fast Delivery! Fun Product!" 2009-11-16
By Marcia (California)
Have had for almost a month now and am using it 3-4 times per week. Spent hours reviewing products and finally decided this was the best. It is a great juicer, pulp comes out dry. I save pulp and make carrot bread type bread. Yummy, too. I like the fact that it is a masticating juicer. More healthy. Have not tried any attachments yet. Very easy to clean, too, and carrots and beets have not stained the white blade. I put a glass under the juice hole instead of the screened holder. Simple.

Delivery was very fast. Ordered on Friday, making juice on Tuesday afternoon.

With all that said, I have never had a juicer before so have nothing to compare it to. My 5 yr old thinks the Jack LaLane juicer looks fun cause you can put whole fruits/vegys unpeeled. Not sure I'd want to make bread with pulp that had pineapple rind.

"Much better than my centrifugal juicer" 2009-11-08
By Jane Shepard (NYS)
The slower rpm leaves the juice that's extracted (from the vegs that I just took out of the refrigerator) cold. That makes the juice more refreshing.

There is no foam and the parts are less of a hassle to assemble and clean than my Breville.

I use this daily and am very happy with my decision to buy the Omega J8003.

"Excellent product.......easy to use and easier to clean" 2009-11-06
By Jeff Schick (Denville, NJ)
I purchased this juicer after doing a ton of research and have nothing but great things to say. The juice is delicious and the pulp is very dry. The juicer comes apart very quickly and is incredibly easy to clean and put back together. I've heard some complaints about the chute being narrow and about having to cut veggies into smaller pieces. Big deal. If you don't have an extra five minutes to cut up some food than you must be the busiest person on the planet. I've seen a few videos on the net and it looks like the juicer is loud and that you need to push down hard to get the auger to masticate the veggies. Well my juicer is very quiet and I barely have to push down to get the auger to grab and crush the veggies. I also made some banana ice cream the other night that was very tasty. I would spend the extra money to purchase this juicer again because it is a quality product.

 "Fantastic juicer!" 2009-11-16
By Kate McCallister (Minneapolis, MN)
I LOVE this juicer!

The Omega 8005 is incredibly efficient. It juices quickly, and leaves dry, pale pulp (meaning that pretty much all the juice that could possibly be extracted from the fruit/veggies has been). I've even run the pulp back through the juicer to see how much more juice would be extracted, and it wasn't more than a few tiny drops. It is VERY efficient with leafy green vegetables, which is something that other (cheaper) juicers often struggle with.

This juicer is VERY easy to use. I had no problem putting it together right out of the box (hardly even had to glance at the instructions), and it takes me less than 10 seconds to put back together after cleaning. I really believe that ease of use (assembly & clean-up) is the difference between having a juicer that you use once every few months & one that you use everyday!

The juicer is beautiful & looks very nice sitting on the countertop. My understanding is that the the Omega 8003 is the same as this 8005 - only the 8005 is silver where the 8003 is white. The 8003 looks okay, but the 8005 is actually gorgeous. It's also fairly compact & take up less room than I expected.

One thing about this juicer vs. ones like the Breville is that you can't just toss whole fruits or vegetables into the Omega. The Omega 8005's chute is somewhat small. Admittedly, I was a little nervous about this, as I didn't want to spend 30 minutes chopping my produce into tiny pieces prior to juicing. However, this is not a big downside - and it's a "downside" that I feel is worth it. I've found that it takes me less than 3 minutes to wash & chop my vegetables to prepare them for juicing, and from what I've read, the Omega produces more juice than a lot of the other juicers on the market. Taking an extra 3 minutes out of my morning to chop veggies when it's going to yield more (and better-tasting) juice is a small price to pay, in my opinion. (And the produce doesn't need to be bite-sized or anything; just thin enough to put into the chute, which is about 1.5" across.)

Overall, I am only sorry that I didn't buy this juicer sooner. I hemmed & hawed over spending $250 on an appliance when I wasn't sure how much I would use it... Well, I have never had a juicer before this Omega so I can't compare it to other juicers out there, but I LOVE this thing. I look forward to juicing every morning, and just one month after buying it, I can no longer imagine my mornings without my green juice.

Don't hesitate on buying this juicer! I am confident that you won't be sorry. I can't imagine having a juicer that is easier to use or produces better juice!

 "Such a juicer exists?" 2009-11-07
By Duane (Dover, NH USA)
We are heavy juicers. And, we are veterans of several brands including the Champion. We juice just about everything from pineapple to oranges to wheatgrass. And, I must say, this is the best juicer that we have ever owned. I say this both because of its versatility and ease to clean. The Champion beat things to a froth and heated up the juice to a point where good nutrients were lost. It was tedious to clean and juiced oranges (a family favorite) very poorly. (We needed a separate juicer for the wheatgrass. A real pain, particularly when you wanted a combined drink.) This machine is a little slower, a lot quieter, and produces better quality from just about everything - carrots, apples, beets, spinach, etc. We didn't need to make any changes in the way we prepared our fruits and veggies. We purchased it from Amazon because we have had such good fortune with them in the past and because they had the best price. We have now owned the Omega for nearly a year. It has put the fun of juicing back in our lives. I believe that it will do the same for you.

"8005 Omega juicer not working at all" 2009-11-02
By Holger Bruning (Florida Sring Hill)
Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Single-Gear Commercial Masticating Juicer, Chrome and Black

The Omega 8005 juicer arrived on time, packaged properly. When plugged in and switch turned on nothing happened. Upon closer inspection i found the opening that would normally hold a reset button on the underside of the appliance was just an empty hole. Since the package was apparently not tampered with it came directly from China this way. The quality control on many products "made in China" has been steadily going down over the last couple of years.

It's now about a 50/50 chance that one of their products is working as intended.

I am giving this product 3 stars because the principle designed is very good. It's just bad quality control and the choice of materials used is at least questionable.

BTW. I got my money back quickly from amazon.com

I am going to buy the 8006 model and hope for the best. The 8006 models main component composition is much better then the 8005. The compression screw of the 8005 model is made of a polymer from melamine and formaldehyde. Two highly toxic materials. (As long as they stay a polymer they are OK but !)

When the screw is used under constant pressure coming in contact with other parts of the juicer over an extended period of time some of that polymer may come off and break up into its original harmful constituents and consequently be consumed with the "healthy juice".It's not going to kill you ,at least not right away, but who needs that?

I know that the 8006 model uses a much harder polymer for the same part and is made from less toxic materials. So I am going to take a chance with that one. Good luck folks Holger

"Omega J8006 Masticating Juicer, Black and Chrome" 2009-11-11
By PlatoFromTexas
Just purchased this last week for $[...] from Amazon based on reviews here. I have used it once to juice carrots. The juicing aspect is excellent. The pulp was much drier than that produced by a centrifugal Omega juicer I had a few years ago. I also used the carrot pulp to make a carrot cake and it also turned out great. In terms of handling, I don't feel very confident about the parts that extend out like a nose on the juicer. It is plastic and bends slightly downwards when you place the carrots into the funnel and press down to get the auger to process the carrots. Makes me wonder how much longer it can take the pressure before it breaks. But the company does warrant its product for 15 years. The cleaning is much easier than my old centrifugal and requires only to take apart the few pieces in the nose.

Now my real concern with this product - After only one juicing I took the nose apart for cleaning and noticed that the auger has scratch marks on it and also looks like some minute but visible particles are missing. The auger is made by GE using a plastic resin which it has trademarked as ULTEM. Here's what GE says about Ultem : "GE's Ultem resin is an amorphous thermoplastic polyetherimide

offering outstanding high heat resistance, high strength, modulus and broad chemical resistance". Here is the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet on Ultem): [...]. The particles of the auger likely ended up in the juice and the pulp, both of which I ingested. Now I am all for juicing health but don't want to pay the price of eating GE plastics along the way. Other reviewers have also stated the same problem. I am starting to think this is not an auger defect but rather the reality of the plastic auger grinding against the inner sides of the juicer nose. I am really tempted to just return this item.

Post Note, 11/14/09: I've now used the machine for a few days now and I don't see any additional scrapings on the auger beyond what I saw on the first day. I like this product enough to keep and look forward to putting it to use for nuts and leaf veggies also.

 "**** WARNING ****" 2009-11-03
By Doug Gilbert (Flagstaff, AZ United States)
I will start with, this CAN be a great juicer. I purchased this juicer and accidentally started it before putting anything in it and noticed an intermittent grinding sound correlated to the auger turning. I let it run a few seconds and took it apart to find ground up plastic from the auger in the screen. After some detective work, I noticed that the leading edge of the screen (the edge towards the body) was raised above the plastic so that every time the auger rode up the edge, it ground off a bit more.

I called Omega and they were very quick to send out both the auger and screen. The only problem is that the new screen has the same problem. I emailed them again and told them about the second screen, and I have yet to hear back from them after a week. Since they didn't ask for my old one back, I took my Dremel tool to the screen and rounded off the sharp edges until my fingernail no longer caught when rubbing across it. Now I can run it dry with no apparent plastic getting worn off.

This is a very bad manufacturing control problem that I hope they fix quickly. Frankly, they should stop shipping these until they get this issue fixed. IF they fix this I would give it 5 stars gladly.

All that said and done, I love my juicer now, it is quick to make all kinds of juice and just as quick to clean up. I have had several other juicers, one cost almost twice this one, and this is by far the best once the screen was modified. The pulp comes out very dry compared to any other juicer I have owned or used so I am getting more for my organic dollars these days!

"GE Ultem Auger and compatibility with Omega 8005 Juicer" 2009-10-22
By William R. Berry (Opelika, AL)
I have owned the Omega 8005 Juicer for the past two years and I share many of the comments of reviewers of the 8005 and it's newer sibling the Omega 8004/8006. I like to know if there are readers & reviewers who have the 8003/8005 model and whether they can definitely tell me if the 8004/8006 GE Ultem Auger is compatible with it's older sibling. The website says with the exception of the auger, the 5 year extension of the auger, the built-in handle they are exactly the same. Before I spend $59.95 on this auger, not $39.95 on the FDA approved auger I'd like to know if anybody has both the old juicer and are using the new auger on the older, not the newer juicer. I have used the hell out of my juicer; it is that good; many days, multiple times per day. The older FDA approved augers do wear out as many of you know; I'm curious as to whether the new auger works on the older model; if so, I rather buy it; thank you!

 "Amazing juicer!!" 2009-10-21
By Jaymovez (Toronto, ON, CA)
I've been juicing daily for a while now, but unfortunately I could only afford a centrifugal juicer. My juicer was the Waring Pro, which made decent juice for the cheap price of the juicer. Though the pulp was almost always wet, and greens would always come out as chunks. Still, some juice is always better than no juice.

I just recently received my Omega 8006, and WOW I was so glad to have done my research. It really is good as they say. The pulp is bone dry, extracts quality juice, quiet, and low rpms which saves most of the enzymes of the fruits and vegetables. The centrifugal I had ran at probably 8000 RPM's which literally kills most of the enzymes of the produce.

Another thing I noticed was the color and taste of the juice when juicing from the omega. I did not know orange juice is supposed to have so many flavours. From the centrifugal it just tasted like sugar water. Wow it was amazing when I tasted my first orange juice. The color was darker and brighter and it just tasted SO GOOD!

Last thing is about clean up, I can literally take it apart, clean it, and put it back within the minute. Extremely fast clean up, nothing messy about it.

This is definitely worth the money for 15 years of warranty

By PrOuD MoMmY (NC)
Ok so I have now used three juicers, the Jack Lalanne, the Breville compact fountain, and now the OMEGA 8006. The Omega is the best of those three by far! It's quiet. I get a lot more juice that is less foamy! Looks and taste better. And the pulp is drier than I have ever seen from the three juicers. I now do not feel like I am wasting as much produce as I was using the other two juicers. I can't wait to use if as a processor and to make pasta! Oh yeah, it's a breeze to clean!
